Each painting was in the form of a square, divided into a number of rectangles, in the style of a Mondrian abstract painting and the rectangles were each coloured in one of six colours: black and white, the primary colours blue, red and yellow, and one further colout, labelled ‘other’, which varied from painting to painting.
